- PEUC provides up to 53 weeks of additional unemployment benefits to qualified individuals whose regular unemployment benefits were exhausted on or after July 6, 2019.
- You must wait for your regular unemployment benefits to expire before applying for PEUC.
- Individuals who are currently receiving regular unemployment benefits do NOT need to apply.
When do you have to file a peuc claim?
If a claimant’s benefit year ends on or after July 1, 2019, the claimant will be required to file a regular UI claim. If a claimant exhausted regular state UI benefits on or after 2/2/2020 and have filed for PUA (regardless of payment status), the claimant will be transferred into PEUC automatically.
What happens after I apply for peuc benefits?

When are work search waivers in place?
Work search waivers are in place beginning March 15, 2020 for all claimants. These waivers are automatically applied to claims. Additional guidance will be provided in line with the Governor’s Roadmap to Recovery. Changes to the requirement of waivers may occur on a weekly basis due to this guidance so please watch for additional instructions or advisements.
Can I get unemployment if my wages are less than one and half times my weekly wage?
Potentially. You would need to report each week the total gross wages earned. If your earnings are less than one and one-half times your weekly benefit amount (WBA), you may be eligible for a reduced unemployment benefit. If your earnings exceed one and one-half times your WBA, you will not be eligible for that week of benefits.
Can I file a new claim on my PEUC?
No. If you are eligible for a new UI benefit year, you must stop filing on the PEUC claim and begin filing on a new UI claim. Your eligibility for a new benefit year will occur the day after your current benefit year ends.
