How long does it take to get a CNA certification in Washington State?

In Washington State you must certify within 6 months of hire. Home Instead pays for the class and materials and raises your wage after you pass. Problem is, the exam contains clinical aspects that you won't be able to get on the job practice with. because you work alone 100 percent of the time. Without supervised nursing home experience I don't know how people get around this situation. You can't work as a CNA without that piece of paper. This isn't so much Home Instead`s fault as an issue with the system.

Why can't they keep employees?

Loved the job. Though they can’t keep employees because they don’t want you to do much of anything except clean, watch certain clients every move, and give baths. They do not pay enough. They don’t properly compensate for overtime or gas. Was highly disappointed.
