  • Fast RAM matters on Ryzen because it synchronises the infinity fabric interconnect to RAM speeds and lowers latency.
  • 3600MHz at CL16 is the current sweet spot of compatibility, affordability and speed on ZEN2 CPUs.
  • Ensure you set RAM speed correctly.

Does RAM speed matter for Ryzen performance?

Our results highlight the importance of playing to the Ryzen architectures strengths. It’s not really RAM speed that matters here. What is critical is the Infinity Fabric speed and using RAM that can match that speed, synchronising RAM clocks to CPU clocks and minimising RAM latency.

What is the best workstation RAM kit for Ryzen?

What is the best RAM for overclocking a Ryzen 3600?

To test this we set up our rig with a Ryzen 3600 CPU with PBO on, the MSi B450m Mortar motherboard, and some very flexible RAM: The Patriot Viper 2x8GB DDR4 4400Mhz Kit. This memory kit uses Samsungs B-Die ram, now legendary for it’s overclocking ability.

What are the benefits of faster RAM?

The key tuning improvement of faster ram is this: Ram speed can be tied to Infinity Fabric speed, and this means that you can move more data through the CPU if you run everything faster. However it’s not simply a case of higher frequency is better: Synchronisation also matters.

What speed RAM does Ryzen need?

3200 MHzThe value sweet spot for an average buyer using a Ryzen processor is 16GB (8×2) 3200 MHz CL16 RAM.

Does RAM speed matter for Ryzen 5000?

DDR4-3200 should unquestionably be the starting point for Ryzen 5000. We recorded a 5.8% performance difference between DDR4-2133 and DDR4-3200, the native frequency supported on Zen 3. Our test results confirmed that DDR4-3600 is still the sweet spot for this generation, though.

Is there a benefit to faster RAM?

Generally, the faster the RAM, the faster the processing speed. With faster RAM, you increase the speed at which memory transfers information to other components. Meaning, your fast processor now has an equally fast way of talking to the other components, making your computer much more efficient.

Does Ryzen like more RAM?

This makes RAM an especially important purchase for a Ryzen build, doubly so if it's a Ryzen APU build.

Is 3200MHz RAM good for Ryzen?

Using an Intel Core i9 test bed, we concluded that yes, you can see measurable frame-rate gains from faster memory performance, with higher frequencies providing a larger boost than tighter timings, and 3200MHz RAM emerging as the standout value choice.

Is faster RAM better for gaming?

For gaming, there are advantages to running RAM with high-rated speeds. Although it won't have as profound an effect as upgrading the processor or graphics card, faster RAM can improve game performance and frame rates.

Is 3600mhz RAM good for gaming?

Unless you're big on productivity tasks or just simply futureproofing, 16GB is the sweet spot. You want to look for DDR4 RAM that runs around 3,200MHz for Intel chips and 3,600MHz for AMD's latest offerings. This should give your CPU enough bandwidth cushion to handle gaming and work-related tasks.

Is 3200 MHz RAM good for gaming?

I would highly advise against buying the bare minimum AKA 3200mhz. The truth of the matter is that if you were on a ryzen processor 3600 CL16 is the Sweet Spot. Going beyond that on ryzen you won't notice much of a difference in frames per second in gaming. For gaming it doesn,t mather ram speed get capped pretty fast.

What happens if I use RAM of a faster speed than the CPU supports?

The memory can only be access as quickly as it was designed. If you use faster memory then the CPU supoprts the speed is limited by the CPU. You gain nothing by putting memory faster then can be supported by the motherboard, infact, past a certain point the memory might not even result in a POST.

Is 3200MHz RAM good for Ryzen 3900X?

The Ryzen 3900X works well with RAM clocked at 3200MHz, and this kit from Corsair houses two 8GB modules. It's also rather affordable, making it an ideal addition to your PC build.

Is 3000MHz RAM good for Ryzen 5600x?

The 5600x standard RAM speed is 3200MHz and anything above that is considered overclocked. You already have 32GB @ 3000MHz, so you might not see a difference in speed by going with faster RAM... If you still want to go with faster RAM, then consider 3600MHz CL16 or lower.

Is overclocking RAM worth it Ryzen?

Yes it is worth it performance wise, if you can get good RAM with tight timings. Also you need to tighten the timings further yourself. Is it worth the money, not really for the expensive kits which is why you target a cheaper kit and overclock it.

Actually, ryzen benefits from faster ram. The infinity fabric, or whatever BS name they gave it that connects the modules runs at the speed of the ram.

Yeah, there is a difference because of the architecture really relies on faster memory. You will get a better experience and not only in video editing and 3D modeling, but also in stuff like gaming.

The 1st few people are telling outdated info. Ryzen architecture is different. For example a six core ryzen CPU is 3 2 core CPUs joined together. They're joined they're by something they've branded an infinity fabric. The infinity fabric scales with RAM speed and lets the separate dual cores talk to each other faster.

A great deal of people in here do not know what they're talking about, or understand why Ryzen's architecture makes it different from Intel's (or even previous AMD CPU's) in terms of RAM speed performance scaling. You should absolutely get the fastest RAM you can afford.

Daniel644

faster ram = BETTER performance, but there comes a point when it becomes a cost to performance gain question, that occurs around the 3000Mhz line, like 2933 to 3200 might make a 1-2% improvement in FPS.

Zyndo

I work with After Effects and Cinema 4D simultaneously and my CPU performance doesn't go above 35% when rendering but Memory goes up to 90-95%

Sounds like RAM capacity limitations rather than RAM speed issues (unless you're monitoring your RAM bandwidth specifically, which most people don't monitor) how much RAM do you currently have?

What is Ryzen CPU?

Ryzen CPU architecture is unique in that it consists of a number of discreet but interconnected chips: The CPU is made up of ‘core complex dies’ or ‘CCD’s which in turn are made up of a pair of quad core ‘CCXs’ or Core complexes.

How does AMD make their CPUs?

AMD manufactures CPUs by selecting the chips with the right number of viable cores on a core complex, and then fusing off the failed or less worthwhile cores. On CPUs like the six core Ryzen 3600, 2 CCX’s each with 1 core fused off work in parallel on a single CCD. This results in a six core CPU.

Is RAM faster than fabric?

The key tuning improvement of faster ram is this: Ram speed can be tied to Infinity Fabric speed, and this means that you can move more data through the CPU if you run everything faster. However it’s not simply a case of higher frequency is better: Synchronisation also matters.

Does RAM overclocking help CPU performance?

In short, RAM overclocking does little to help CPU performance in this test.
